I used to recommend these, but every single one mounted horizontally has failed in a relatively short time and the customer service has tanked. Not only do they take weeks to respond, but they have you jump through hoops, taking videos, stand the fan up, put it on a table, squeeze the center hub on both sides ... It's truly ridiculous and clearly designed to avoid honoring the warranty.

At this price point, after Amazon's cut for shipping and stocking, etc, i can't see how they could afford to honor any kind of warranty. I'm not defending them, I just thinking Arctic should be honest about that. At this price, they're throw away fans.

A major part of that problem lies in the design and how if the blade pitch were reversed it would greatly improve the longevity of horizontal mountings.
At the risk of sounding like an AvE here, notice while looking at the 'finished/nicer side' of the fan, how the blades turn counterclockwise and pushes the air from that side to the back/rough side direction.

Physics: (fan blade load) For every action there is an equally opposite reaction.
This loading on the fan blades with this design PULLS the fan blades and shaft away from the motor and the thrust bearing surface instead of PUSHING it toward the motor and thrust bearing surface. A far better and longer enduringing design would be the reverse, by having the fan blades PUSH toward the opposite direction so that the loading is not pulling away form the motor/bearing support structure, and instead putting the load there where it belongs.

In other words, totally reversing the fan blade pitch would alleviate the problem and put the force (ie. load) where it belongs for horizontal mounting.
Also notice the existing airflow pushes air towards the circular gap between the motor and the fan blade unit, which 'helps' to push more dust and airborn particles into deeper into the unit to where the bearings are. All could be alleviated by reversing the blade pitch.

You won't understand without ample mechanical aptitude, but the explanation is there. I'm not saying that as any dig at you, honestly. We all have different areas that we may have better or worse aptitude and understanding than other areas where we may excel in.

To whoever ends up purchasing this - test all the fans you have. Of the 4 fans, 1 fan had a terrible grinding noise. It spins but the bearing is definitely off and it could heard above all the others fans.

They do have a warranty though and they have it to promote sales, so I expect them to honor it.

So you should and didn't mean it to come out any other way. They shouldn't pretend to have a warranty and then undercut everyone else. I guess Amazon's rating system is supposed to capture it, but it would be better if Amazon had another way to highlight companies who have an obvious policy of not honoring warranties or just dragging it out as long as they can with the hope you'll just give up.

So your vertical fans are still good, right? I plan to use them for that and that only. I'll admit, that's pretty bad that setting it hortizonal will kill the fans being that they sell 240/360 sized liquid coolers that are likely to be set hortizonally on the case...
