Agree with this. Also if you look at some of the other SD posts about Philips they are now a Chinese company and their customer service is absolutely the worst. I bought a machine directly from them on a BF deal and absolutely did not like the machine as well as the coffee it made. I took advantage of their 30-day money back guarantee and sent it back. They literally would not issue a refund after sending pictures and the tracking number showing it had been returned. I won my credit card dispute after fighting with them for 3 months and for these reasons I no longer buy Phillips products. I try to warn people about Phillips every time I see a post about one of their products. Dyson is my other hate but that's in another thread Smilie.

Consolation prize for those who didn't get in on the DeLonghi sale from Woot. Hard to say which is the better machine, they are comparable, each having pluses and minuses.

~$12 cheaper than the deal last November (same machine and condition). IIRC it was a bit of a crapshoot last time. Some people ended up with obviously used machines in poor condition, missing parts, etc. But given it's amazon you can easily return if you don't get a good one.

I've owned both, and the Delonghi magnifica is miles better than Phillips. Our nespresso made stronger and better tasting coffee than the Phillips. If you search the superautomatic subreddit you'll see this is a trend, tons of people complain about weak watery espresso.

My recommendation is skip this machine even at this price.

Does this have the annoying erroneous no beans error that Gaggia has (it wastes beans for no reason, especially when beans are half full).

I can't figure out what senses this on our gaggia, it somehow measures how much powder gets in the brew group is my guess (no sensors in the beans compartment).

I got one and on mine, someone had removed the back and unhooked an internal water line. So, yep, water went everywhere when I first used it. Oh and a back cover screw was missing. Once I reattached it, it's been perfect ever since. I will say it doesn't make as good an espresso shot or (micro)foam as my old Phillips Saeco Xsmall (also a SD) but it makes up for it in convienence. Just load the milk and run it.

I'd say my Phillips lor barista makes better coffee than my Nespresso vertuo though. I can't see this being weaker than espresso unless it's your settings

I have this machine and love it. Are there other machines that make better espresso? Sure, but you will pay significantly more. I won't call my self the "average" coffee drinker, but this machine exceeded my expectations.

Clean it at the intervals it tells you to. It's mostly the very easily removable compact brew group and drip tray but surrounding areas get wet, too. Negligence will lead to mold (applies to all coffee makers), but it's very easy to maintain, otherwise.

Agreed. I go back and forth between superautomatics, switching back to a Breville for manual extraction and now I'm back eyeing this phillips. I loved it the last time we had it. The ilk texture isn't perfect but overall, the ease of use and maintenance was great if you're not an espresso snob
