You still need to freeze the base in the bowl and it gets churned by the blade. There's no condenser or refrigerant.

Maybe that's why there are so many returns? Lot's of negative feedback that this is just a glorified blender/dispenser, and doesn't actually make ice cream. You have to either make it first in the freezer, or buy store bought ice cream and load it in the machine, which then just stirs and dispenses it.

Probably people buy this thinking it is a model you just pour the mix in, turn it on, and makes soft service (like a miniature McDonald's or Dairy Queen type of machine). Then they return it when they figure out it won't do that.

Did y'all see the viral video of someone that had been using their Ninja Creami and noticed trapped maggots in the "sealed" lid after they were already enjoying their soft serve? Apparently there's a design flaw with the lid that allows intrusion between the plastic walls, but you cannot take it apart to clean.

Got mine today. For me it was worth it, as far as I can tell it was brand new. I was also able to register this with Ninja and get the 1 year warranty.

Mine was delivered today. Packaging is 100% beat to shit, hoping the product inside is in better shape when I open it up tomorrow after wife has gone to work. Either way, will be a difficult gift to give unfortunately
