Counterpoint to battery issues - I have a mower and trimmer, 4.0ah and 7.5ah batteries, and I have not seen deterioration after two seasons.

I have this blower and it works quite well, very powerful, though it's a little heavy to carry around. The real problem is the battery. Usually one charge runs about 15-20 minutes which is good for my use, but the battery dies quickly like in a year and it's also very expensive to replace it -- the battery's price itself can buy another blower. I eventually gave up this after two batteries completely died(first one was in warranty, second one was just out of warranty), although I really like the blower itself.

As with most lithium batteries, keeping the state of charge between 20% and 80% drastically improves the life of the battery. You should only charge to 100% just before being used and never right after you finish, except to get above 20%. Unfortunately, these blowers pull 4 to 5 C on the small 4 Ah batteries which is not friendly on such a small battery. If you really want it to last, you need to use a heavy 10 Ah battery and follow the above.

I've had 2 EGO batteries go bad in 3 years after light use. They just don't last and are very expensive. I'm switching all my equipment over to Milwaukee. Hopefully they last longer.

In my experience the bigger issue is how folks store and charge them. LEtting them get really hot or really cold causes damage. Fast charging also ages them more rapidly, it seems.

Are you sure it was the same model with the battery and charger? The chart shows the lowest ever was $230 in April 2024.

I've had a 5ah and two 2.5ah ego batteries for 2, 3, and 4 years respectively and have had no problem with them. They'll automatically discharge down to preferred levels for long term storage after not using them for a month. If you see the light randomly start flashing green one day this is what it is doing. If you're going to use it soon press the button to interrupt the discharge but otherwise let it do its thing.

They don't last as long as they did when they were brand new but I don't expect them to. There's still plenty of useful life in them.

I bought one of these to try it out, hoping it would replace my old Greenworks 40v blower. Man is this thing heavy. It's also really poorly balanced. Where the Greenworks basically sits balanced in your hand, the eGO is very front heavy, which was surprising considering how heavy the battery is. I know it comes with a shoulder strap but I just don't see myself using that every time I want to blow leaves off the driveway.

This is true, thats why the heavier batteries are better for these egos. But they work super well. Just not the most ergonomic

Battery management is key for an extended life. Been using the blower, string and hedge trimmers for while and don't see major issues.
