Buying ground beef in the US and not knowing where the beef is from... quite the gamble.

Community Reviews

This is a very cheap 80 20 ground beef deal that works best for stocking the freezer or making burgers, meatballs, and other everyday meals. The price has landed as low as $1 per pound with coupons, and orders have also hit the $25 grocery minimum for free Prime shipping by adding milk, juice, or other staples. Availability is regional and the max is 5 pounds. Freshness and quality have generally been fine, though there are concerns about unclear origin, packaging, and occasional tougher pieces.

I would say no. And there's always the possibility of porch pirates. At checkout, you can opt for delivery sometime tomorrow, Saturday, when you might be home. Half my order, the non-perishable items, are coming tomorrow.
I opted to add items to get to $25 for free shipping. I just HAVE to remember NOT to buy avocados from Amazon. Where do they get all the smallest ones? LOL.
If you are a frequent Amazon customer you can easily get non-return refunds instantly thru chat with their AI agent. I've done it dozens of times when issues with quality or size or temperature etc. Including avocados. It's a seriously underrated perk of buying thru Amazon grocery and Amazon Fresh.

Here's what happened. "Nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef products imported from South America have been recalled in two states because they entered the United States without undergoing a required inspection.Corte Argentino USA LLC, located in Aventura, Florida, recalled approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina, the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced. The products were produced between May 15 and May 20 and have use-by or freeze-by dates of Sept. 15-20, according to the FSIS announcement. The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities." https://www.usatoday.com/story/mo...253506007/
Don't believe this has anything to do with Amazon or beef sold by Amazon.

The following products are subject to the recall, according to the FSIS:
Various-weight cardboard boxes containing "Frigorifico Gorina SAIC" boneless beef "Top Sirloin Butt" ("Cuadril Sin Tapa")
Various-weight cardboard boxes containing "Frigorifico Gorina SAIC" boneless beef "Eye Round" ("Peceto")
Various-weight cardboard boxes containing "Frigorífico Gorina SAIC" boneless beef "Topside Cap Off" ("Nalga AD S/Tapa")
Various-weight cardboard boxes containing "Frigorífico Gorina SAIC" boneless beef "Flat" ("Carnaza Cuadrada")
Various-weight cardboard boxes containing "Frigorífico Gorina SAIC" boneless beef "Knuckle" ("Bola de Lomo")
The recalled products bear Argentinian establishment number "EST. N° OF. 2025" and shipping mark "26644-AA," the FSIS said in the announcement. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury because of consumption of these products.
Where was the recalled beef sold?
The FSIS said the products were distributed to retailers in Florida and Texas.

It was not available in my area. I don't understand why, since a Whole Foods (I believe that's what it's called) is a mile from my location.

Can anyone who's ordered this before comment on the expiration date? I'd have to buy 5 of these packages and have them all expire within 1-2 days.

Idk, this was the only story I saw mentioned Texas and Florida as was being discussed in the thread. I didn't search for others.

I'm chinese and the Chinese food safety is way worse than the US, so if it is indeed rejected by China then you need to stay away. Food overall is still far safer in the US though.
It was rejected by China 5 months ago, not the same meat. #misinformation

I'm very familiar with their chat. Had to use it today for 2 problems with my S&S order. So I don't want to over do it for a disappointing avocado. But it's good that you posted that because a lot of people are not aware of how easy it is sometimes to get a refund. I'm just mad at myself that I didn't remember not to have other people pick out my produce. LOL.

Not sure I'd trust any ground beef right now 😬
Not everything is a deal especially if it will potentially endanger your health.
