Yet another post by OP with a wildly inaccurate regular price. How is this allowed?

It's available for me at this price so that's probably true for others. It seems walmart is going the way of amazon with ymmv pricing based on some algorithm Dontknow

edit: it seems I may have misunderstood. The regular price is what walmart posted so it seems your beef is with the merchant

As deal posters we aren't locked in to report clearly inaccurate regular prices. In fact, it's an obligation of conscientious posters to correct such obvious errors by the merchant. And easy to do so in the regular price box of deal post creation page. In this case, if I had posted the deal I would have changed regular price to $36.48, as the price of ONE box regular price is $2.28 as clearly shown on the page right next to the 16 pack. So, $2.28*16=$36.48 (should be max regular price of the 16 pack)…

This seems to be a walmart issue for what is displayed on desktop vs mobile as the price of one box is shown as $6.38 (screenshot in my first reply). I checked and on mobile it's the lower price you posted and even now it's still the higher price for qty 1 on desktop, which is where the high list price came from. I am not much of a deal poster but the few times I have I find it much easier to do on desktop, so again it seems the fault lies with the merchant.

Either way, it seems that the current price is below list and thus still a "deal" so maybe there are those who are interested. I'm of the opinion that it's better to have more people willing to post deals than less and when I'm not interested, I just move along to the next thread. As a shopper, I think it's up to all of us to do our homework. For products I don't buy often I may not be in tune with the true regular price but when I do, I look around to determine normal price and not worry about whatever fake discount a merchant may be advertising.

Interesting about the price between app and website. As far as deals, you make reasonable points. My view is the higher quality the posts are, the better. I'd rather have fewer, more accurate/carefully authored deals than the thousands of automated/spray and pray, uncurated ones that seem to have taken over SD by a handful of mega posters and staff. The former dilute the feed. Of course I do my own research as well, but when I'm posting a deal I take it seriously and want it as accurate as possible. If I saw a regular price for a small box of Kleenex of $6+ I would immediately know it wasn't real and take a few seconds to confirm it was a mistake and post the accurate price.

In addition to my other response above, check out this "Deal" on spring water from Amazon today. Only $1.43/gallon, down from…wait for it…"$14.99!" 90% off! WOW! Should go front page, right? Should I post this as-is, with the "sale price" and the "regular price" and let the readers do their "own research?"…

This thread is a place to talk about the posted deal. We identified an issue with the way the merchant was displaying things and further discourse is now off track. People use this site in all kinds of ways and there are multiple tools available to help curate those choices, including voting, filters, etc. Deals that aren't of interest fade away (which would include this thread, although every reply bumps it), and those that are get highlighted. If you want to make policy suggestions I suggest you take it to the site questions and issues forum so as not to further derail the thread. Cheers Peace
