Community Reviews
Sonos Arc Ultra with Sub 4 and two Era 300 speakers is a premium living room surround setup that shines for movies, sports, and streaming shows. The system is praised for sounding really good, looking clean, and being incredibly simple to set up, especially if you already use Sonos and want to avoid a full wired A.V. install. The main knocks are the high price, weaker music performance than movies, and recent software and YouTube surround issues that can limit full ambient playback. It is a polished, easy-to-live-with package, but the value depends on how much you want wireless convenience.
The bundle can deliver a simple setup experience for people already using Sonos products.
The Arc Ultra, Sub 4, and Era 300 combination can produce strong living-room performance for streaming sports, movies, and shows.
The system can sound very good when configured as the Arc Ultra plus Sub 4 plus Era 300 setup.
YouTube surround upmixing can stop working after updates, limiting playback to front stereo until Sonos or YouTube fixes it.
Sonos software updates can create major issues, so buyers may want to verify those problems are resolved before purchasing.
The bundle can be overpriced for the sound quality, and demoing first may help avoid wasting money.
The soundbar approach may underperform a dedicated wired A/V setup due to physics, even though it is easier to set up.

Also, the fact that people are considering buying a $2k wireless surround sound system probably tells you they have jobs (and probably have other things to do than to comment on deals they're not interested in).
Of course you could post reviews from reputable sites that call this a POS system. Before purchasing this a few months ago, I looked everywhere and the worst criticism I found is it's expensive...

They are two completely different designs/users.
There are always trade offs even within the two designs.
Those trade offs are personal, they're not universal like people try to portray.
Yes people have been making comments on how something sounds with zero experience listening to it since the dawn of time!
That's here to stay unfortunately!
However the soundbar is easier to setup and many like the appearance better. A higher end soundbar can sound really good but I personally wouldn't pay this much for one when you can find a comparable setup for around 1k.

Wiring is only one of many things when considering a "good" traditional setup.
If that wiring isn't in the proper place won't be that useful.
In general, there are always trade offs & sound is completely subjective.
If you find you love the sound of Sonos, I vote you just stick to it & enjoy.
Does the Sonos system sound good? Yeah it sounds really damn good and does the job when I watch sports, movies and shows on streaming. Yeah 2k seems like a lot for this but no other soundbar system has this level of sound, aesthetics, and build quality IMHO.

Previously, the YouTube app could upmix audio to full ambient surround sound across all channels. However, following a recent YouTube update, playback is restricted to front stereo (soundbar only).
I reached out to Sonos support, and they confirmed they are aware of the issue but currently have no timeline for a fix.
If you want true surround sound, you'll need to rely on supported apps like Netflix or dedicated music streaming platforms for now.
