The 5060 Ti 16GB was supposed to launch at $429.
The 3080 launched at $700.
From a raw processing standpoint, the 3080 has a faster processor and more memory bandwidth.
Where it falls flat, however, is that it has 4-6GB less RAM and lacks newer instruction sets that newer software takes advantage of.
On newer games or at 4K, the 5060 Ti could potentially pull ahead, especially if DLSS 4 or 5 is used.
And if you mess around with any local AI, the extra RAM on the 5060 Ti will come in handy.

The MSRP clearly shows that it was designed for a different market segment.
$700 is equivalent to $860 in 2025 dollars.
Plus, the modern equivalent to the 3080, the 5080, regularly goes for $1600.
The fact that the 3080 beats the 5060 Ti in some (not all) things is also not a mystery, just in the way a 2000 Mustang v8 probably beats your average 2026 4-banger in performance, but not mileage or safety.
