I bought this router last year on sale for $30. If you have xfinity as a provider, this router will pay for itself. Connect to Xfinity hotspots through this router- set it up as a private hotspot. Was tempted to buy another, but I already have two. For $21, this is a steal.

Huge fan of this router for our traveling family. Bring it with us whenever we're traveling and set it up with hotel or Airbnb Wi-Fi so that I don't have to reconnect all of the kids' individual devices to Wi-Fi on every single trip. This has the best captive Wi-Fi authentication workflow that I've seen so far.

I got the Beryl AX, but tempted to return it for this. If you use a lot of vpn, etc, then I think the Beryl is better for sure. Also the Beryl can do load balancing, tether from a phone, etc. I don't travel that much, so I am tempted to just get this!

This one is $36 and has antennas, a usb 3.0 port vs the 2.0 port on this one, and the usb-c input is at 5volts vs the other one requiring PD.

I successfully used this on a cruise this year. It was great in my room, but I had some issues walking around the ship with it and had to re-connect often.

Ordered one of these a couple of years ago to use for travel, and it has been pretty solid. Have used it at hotels and resorts, use the same SSID I use at home so our devices just connect automatically once I get it set up on site. Great if you have a travel Fire Stick or something like that so you don't have to fiddle with connecting it to an alternate wifi every place you go. Have used it on an ethernet connected router as well as a hotspot router (both connected to hotel/resort wifi or on my phone's hotspot). Nice for places that limit the number of devices you can connect, especially if you're traveling with kids who might each have a couple of devices in addition to your own phone, laptop, media stick, etc.
It's not quite "automatic" to connect, a couple of minor caveats that you should be able to figure out after a couple of tries. First, it has a switch for the connection mode (bridge/repeater, router, or hotspot I think... something like that); you have to set the appropriate one. I think router (ethernet connected) and hotspot (connect to an existing Internet wifi network and broadcast a separate SSID) are the two I've used, I hate repeaters and never have cause to use that setting so can't speak to how well it works. Seems like the IP addressing on it changes depending on the connection configuration, so sometimes you have to figure out what IP address to use to connect to it through the web interface to get connected to the hotspot network. They may have an app that simplifies that... I wouldn't be particularly inclined to install a TP Link app on my phone, but most people probably don't care that much. Once you figure it out it's easy enough, if a little annoying. Worth the buy for $20-ish, I picked up another one to throw in the camper permanently.
Edited to add: have probably used this six or eight times at different hotels, resorts, and while camping over the past couple of years.
