Newer doesn't always mean better.
Artic Silver 5 was excellent. I'd still put that as #1 in.
Someone said thermal putty was the new best thing instead of pads. Ordered 2 of the best kind on Aliexpress. Made a lousy mess on the GPU thermal caps. Again, newer stuff isnt always the best.

Been using MX4 for years. Replaced a CPU with 4 years of usage last year. No issues in temp or the paste drying out. Re-Used the same tube as well for a new CPU, running fine for a year.
But honestly the price difference is minimal. Buy a fresh tube of MX7 if you're worried with every install.
