Despite what reviews say, these many-in-one cables do not support fast charging, FYI.

Without an included c to an adapter, I don't find these very useful.

Good plan, take a cable where both ends need to negotiate the current and voltage to fast charge, then violate everything about how that negotiation takes place, locking it to the lowest possible voltage of 5V and 500mA current (if you're lucky) and then split that low current 4 ways. I'm sure it works great!

Is 2.4a the max output for a USB A port?

Yep. USB-A is limited to 5v/2.4A=12W. This the total you can feed your devices with, that are plugged in to this cable. There is no magic, folks.
