For my use case, I am fine with this not getting unlocked after a year as I don't intend to use this as a long time driver. For $30 I would rather use is as a backup phone for my mint line and not try activating it with metro and in the process, loose its current working state with mint (I am not sure if that will definitely happen after activating with metro but I don't want to take that chance). I generally switch my main line (mint) devices very frequently and always need a decent hardware cheap phone for the temporary in-transition period (if it a resale of old device and buy new on a deal price). YMMV

Also compared to metro, mints unlock policy is far better and need only 60 days of continuous usage. I am going to try my luck and check if mint would be able to unlock after 60 days. If that works, it will make it a killer deal and if not, I am still fine (because of the reason I shared above)

I am in the same situation. I called to add a new line to get the phone, but the rep told me that I need to upgrade my plan to $45 one first to be eligible for adding a line and get a free phone. Did you need to do that?

Yes. The rep upgrade my first a37 line to 55 plan. Which prorated to 5 additional due immediately. But somehow a temp credit is applied and I can get the 2nd tcl 70 pro for 30 and activated. Now my account is suspended for the 5 due. Just a couple days before next bill due.

My Metro moto stylus year was up on 9/19 but it still show as locked. When does it unlock? Should I wait a few days before calling them?
