Certainly not built to the same standard and constructed with cheaper materials (there's a reason those Technics cost so much) but functionally it's pretty much identical.

How about compared to Audio Technica 120? They seem to be identical

The old Technics were made in Japan as with Pioneer. Old school Japanese brands that didn't go bankrupt or sold to some Chinese companies using the old name are no longer made in Japan. I believe the very high end Audio Technica stuff are still made in Japan.

Yeah, it's essentially identical to the original ATLP120. The current model (ATLP120x) is very similar, but removes the Vertical Tracking Adjustment.

The original AT LP120 had direction and quartz lock buttons as well. I don't see those on the Pioneer.

I have to imagine not considering when I bought my 1200s in the late 90s they were $500-$600 back then.

Weird how old tech is now desired by next generation. Maybe 8-track will return as well Big Grin

Buy a used Vinyl player from the 70s and 80s. They are built solid and Technics doesn't make them like it anymore.

They should offer a "Moby" package with two of these bundled together with a Shure microphone.
