That said I'm likely keeping it since it functions so well for my uses, 95% productivity, 5% gaming.
I did the math and seems very hard to beat this price if you're looking for 5k monitors for native Mac scaling.
Wanted to get Mini-LED (probably why these are so heavily discounted) and strongly considered the MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M, but for $140 cheaper (for 2) and a whole extra K of resolution, I pulled the trigger.
Monitors should arrive Friday, we'll see how my old M1 Max handles them. Sadly I'm guessing I won't be able to exceed even 60Hz, but at least when I upgrade my Mac in 2031 I won't also need to upgrade my monitors (hopefully).

Monitor looked depressingly dark at first, but once I turned the brightness up it looked incredible to me. I'm coming from some older BenQ 1080p office monitors, so this is a huge leap for me.
I'll be honest, I don't really know if the 5k vs 4k difference is that big, but I'm able to drive both of these monitors at 5k and 120Hz (or variable 48-120 if I want) using USB-C to DP cables on my 5-year old M1 Max MBP, which the internet / AI told me I would not be able to do. So, that was a pleasant surprise--I was expecting to have to live with 60 Hz at 5K.
So, fast refresh rate, excellent PPI, and I hooked up my gaming laptop and that also looks amazing. Other than the hassle of having to swap out the monitor with the dead pixel cluster, these are exactly what I was looking for.
They do get surprisingly hot, but no fan noise, so that's nice.
For my purposes--90% work (lots of documents on a Mac that likes native 5k resolution for easy scaling) and 10% gaming every now and then, I'm very happy so far.
