The URLIFE E20 is a budget 20 inch fat tire e bike that stands out for low price, removable battery placement behind the seat post, and enough speed to reach 28 mph when unlocked. It also feels easy to customize, with owners sealing the control box, swapping brake parts, and adding handlebar risers. The main drawbacks are weak cable brakes, a soft pedal assist that jumps from 0 to 10 mph, and a small frame that feels cramped for riders above about 5 foot 10. The screen is hard to read in direct sun, and the battery and controller quality raise durability concerns. A practical option if the size and stock components fit your needs.

Common Questions (5)

  • No. It uses cable-actuated disc brakes, and the stock stopping power is described as soft or spongy. A common fix is a larger front rotor or a front hydraulic brake upgrade kit.

  • It fits smaller riders better. The frame is described as on the small side, the handlebars cannot be raised much, and riders around 5'11" say they would not recommend it for their height.

  • Yes. The stock setup uses a 160mm rotor and a 160mm adapter, so a 203mm rotor needs a matching adapter and larger caliper. A bolt-in front hydraulic upgrade kit is also a practical option.

  • Yes. The battery pack sits behind the seat post and is removable, which makes charging and storage easier.

  • It uses a cadence sensor, not a torque sensor. At this price point it is expected to be a basic cadence setup, and the pedal assist can ramp up abruptly.

I have never bought anything from Ali Express. Deals are too good to be true. Anyone have any reputable sellers they deal with on there?

So I bought one years back and the peddle assist is kinda dangerous. Like it goes from 0-10mph instead of gradually like on my other more expensive e-bikes. I ended up disconnecting the PAS cable in the control box under the peddles and just use the hand throttle. It's much safer / better this way imho.

I have this ebike, since the brakes are cable actuated, I've upgraded the front brake rotor from the stock 160mm to a larger 203mm rotor. Once the brake pads wear out, I plan on changing the brake calipers to a dual piston setup like the zoom db680 that I have on my other bike.

I've also sealed the bottom control box so no water or dirt can get inside.
Can I ask how long have you had it? How lhas it been holding up? Did it arrive and u had to pay a tariff?

I did only the front. there's a listing on amazon for a 2 pack of 203mm rotors for around $12. It has a buy 1 get 1 coupon, so you get 4 rotors for 12 dollars. So you have enough for front and rear plus replacements if you wanted to. You also have to get the adapter to accommodate the larger rotor though.
how long does it take to change those brakes out?

Need to work with my daughter to make a video for this bike, but been lazy and she's back in school.

Braking is the weakest point on this bike, but easy to address.

Easy bolt in front brake upgrade kit:
Rotor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G511SHS9
Caliper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RSH5GDN
Caliper adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D9KPL7M

Cheaper options? Probably. Better options? Probably. But a proven $44 kit a teenager can put together with proper tools.

Something like https://www.amazon.com/2-Pistons-...B0FXZVR6RR is better value if you're fine replacing the brake cables. Catazer is a solid brand. And I doubt most people truly wear a brake rotor out during a budget eBike's life unless you have something like contaminants get on the brake pads.

If you can afford a full hydraulic brake system, you're probably better off buying a nicer bike.

At a minimum, replace the pads. Pads are a non-standard size on the stock calipers. Can't vouch from experience, but:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G2LWGNBW
...should be an upgrade. Picked up a set to try for the rears.

Outside of aesthetics, zero point in upgrading the rotor if you don't get a larger caliper. You'd have to get an adapter anyway.
How long has this bike lasted you ? Can I ask

~2 months. That's why I can't really vouch for battery life.

What class bike is this? Does it have a throttle or is it only peddle assist?
It has throttle and pedal assist. It's a class 3 bike because it goes 28mph.
