The Archer BE550 is a tri band Wi Fi 7 router that stands out for strong real world coverage and mesh use, especially in homes and apartments with lots of devices. It has been paired successfully with EasyMesh, handled an 1800 square foot ranch with cameras, work, streaming, and gaming, and delivered comparable upper floor speeds on a 1 gig connection. The main caveats are heat related restarts, inconsistent software, and MLO instability unless that network is disabled. It is a capable value pick if you want Wi Fi 7 without chasing the top tier model.

  • The router can support reliable wired backhaul mesh when using two units together.

  • The router can deliver strong real-world performance when placed centrally in a home.

  • The router can work well for 6GHz usage in an apartment setting.

  • The router can provide comparable speeds on an upper floor after upgrading from an older TP-Link model.

  • The router can restart frequently due to heat when running high or constant speeds.

  • The router can show software inconsistency, including situations where things sometimes work and sometimes do not.

  • MLO configuration can cause instability, so disabling MLO may be necessary for smooth operation.

  • A recertified unit can arrive with a faulty 5GHz radio that causes random disconnects.

This router works well and is good price for a tri band wifi 7 capable router. I have this router sitting in a box as I am using the slightly upgraded Pro model, as I initially wanted wifi 7 capability on the 2.4g band (which this model does not have, it's limited to AX, or wifi 6 capabilities).

Just ensure you disable the MLO network entirely or you will likely face instability issues. MLO as a whole isn't really ready for prime time anyway (hopefully wifi 8 will be better).

I have this and it is collecting dust in my garage now. It restarts quite often due to heat. It can't handle high and constant speed without overheating. Software is a bit of a mixed bag too. Things sometimes work and sometimes don't. I also have a NETGEAR RS700S that is better, but suffers from processing power and stupid subscriptions. It also is in my garage router graveyard. I ended up with the ASUS GT-BE98 Pro and the difference is night and day. It handles 2gig wifi speeds and 8gig lan speed without overheating and it sustains those speeds over days. In many months I have yet to see it shut down or restart unless I manual do it. There is a large gap in price though, but I suggest spending and getting an amazing experience especially if you are paying $80+ a month on 2gig+ symmetrical fiber. I have 4gig fiber with about 100 connections (mostly IoT)
Dang I pay $24 for 10gig

anybody with good experience using this model?
Yes, excellent Router. I upgraded from an older TP-Link model to this and couldn't have been happier. On 1 GBPS line, I get comparable speed on upper floor.

I have 2 from a recertified deal from over a year ago. 1 had a faulty 5ghz radio that would randomly disconnect. TP Link replaced it and the pair are reliable in wired back haul mesh now

I purchased a BE19000 recently and enabled MLO and seems to be working pretty well for most of my devices connected to the MLO SSID. has cut the ping down a bit on most of my devices. The only device it seems to have a bit of an issue with is my S26 Ultra, so I just connect that on the main SSID instead of the MLO SSID.

He is trying to make the ignorant point that because only google phones currently run graphene that it must be insecure and the google still controls the phone. He obviously knows jack about graphene which I've been running for years now on my last 3 phones.

OpenWRT or pass. I don't like government backdoors - US, China, or anyone else - on my routers, thanks.

While we're at it, I only use GrapheneOS on my phone and Linux on my computers. Nothing is bulletproof, but I'm not going to make it easy.
Agreed on OenWRT or pass.
