I upgraded to one of these to utilize the 6ghz band in my apartment and I am extremely happy with mine, though I couldn't comment on how it would work in a larger space.

Working very well in a 1800 sqft ranch. Have it centrally located. Supporting 5 WiFi ring cameras as well. 2 people working and 3 kids streaming and gaming. 1gig fiber can't complain.

Friend of mine bought 2 of these on the last post. He has a 2 story home w/ basement. Set up one by his fiber connection on the far end of the house, and set the other one upstairs in his office, about 2/3 of the way across his house. Connected the 2 with the EasyMesh system and he said the speeds everywhere in his house is as different as night and day. He was using an old Orbi 2 device mesh system he bought in 2018.

BE550 Pro BE9700 is also on sale: $299 retail, on sale for $229, Open Box Like New for $172 - 30% in cart = $121 + tax.

Comes with a 10 GbE WAN port compared to the 2.5GbE one on the regular 550, if that matters to you.

I'm going to guess he thinks the president will block sales of it.

The FCC rule is a ban on NEW routers made outside the US after March 2026, but ones (like this) with existing FCC approval can continue to be sold. They'll be restricted on firmware and software updates after March 1 2027, unless the manufacturer gains exemptions, approvals, or moves manufacturing to the USA. TP-link doesn't have this exception yet, but they're seeking one.

Please excuse me for discussing politics; I don't intend to start a fight, but it's relevant to technology, the economy/pricing, and the function of this product here.

OpenWRT or pass. I don't like government backdoors - US, China, or anyone else - on my routers, thanks.

While we're at it, I only use GrapheneOS on my phone and Linux on my computers. Nothing is bulletproof, but I'm not going to make it easy.

I have this and it is collecting dust in my garage now. It restarts quite often due to heat. It can't handle high and constant speed without overheating. Software is a bit of a mixed bag too. Things sometimes work and sometimes don't. I also have a NETGEAR RS700S that is better, but suffers from processing power and stupid subscriptions. It also is in my garage router graveyard. I ended up with the ASUS GT-BE98 Pro and the difference is night and day. It handles 2gig wifi speeds and 8gig lan speed without overheating and it sustains those speeds over days. In many months I have yet to see it shut down or restart unless I manual do it. There is a large gap in price though, but I suggest spending and getting an amazing experience especially if you are paying $80+ a month on 2gig+ symmetrical fiber. I have 4gig fiber with about 100 connections (mostly IoT)
