I recently got a Fit Index scale from eBay. It was manufacturer refurbished like new condition, and it arrived fully new.

These scales are quite precise but definitely not clinical grade precision. They provide a good baseline for all your metrics and over a period of time you can see the trends and difference against the same baseline.

I'm quite happy with my purchase. It cost me only $25, and the scale is good for the whole family.

These smart scales don't do anything besides weight. They do the calculations in the app to make it looks like it knows body fat etc

Yes, every scale manufacturer uses a proprietary algorithm for deciphering data from the electrodes. But that's why the data gives you a baseline of a lot of metrics. And then as one keeps measuring everyday, you start seeing the trends. There are a lot of variables within the body to give you precise measurements.. The the trends based on set baselines is better than checking only the weight everyday.

I bought two 8-electrode dual frequency BIA scales and measured myself 30 minutes before a DEXA scan. The DEXA captured my bodyfat at 11.6%, the arboleaf at 11.5%, the amzmerit at 12.8%, and the 4-electrode slimpal was 14.4%. But all three scales agreed on my weight whereas DEXA got me at 1.6lb heavier. I definitely did not drink or eat or change clothes between my home and the scan...

Anyway it's just a single reading but the arbo was almost the same as DEXA.

Note that this is a GE-licensed product from a non-GE-affiliated manufacturer. (i.e. ODM with GE branding).

Amazon's page's manual (PDF) has:

Corresponding official website says:
