Afaik Weber doesn't make/sell replacement 22" grates in stainless steel. However, these are high quality, I've never had any of my Weber cooking grates rust, and I'm not diligent when it comes to cleaning then in a timely fashion.

They do not any longer. I bought mine about ten years ago at an end-of-season sale at Target. Great investment. I smoked a brisket on it last night for 16 hours. Hinges help extend the cook time if you place the opening in the right place and you watch it near the end. I usually wrap in foil at the stall and crank the heat to ca. 300 degrees to finish it.

It's a good price for a Webber grill grate but unlike the grill it's the grates are junk. They are stainless steel plated not actually made from stainless steel. After a few uses they will start rusting. You have to read the description closely as like ever America buisness they use deceptive marketing practices. It ad claims to be "stainless" but if you read into it, it's only a plating. It's more expensive but a far better value to buy an aftermarket real stainless steel grate.

The grate that came with my 22" Weber that my wife got me for Father's Day last year is already rusting. What's a good stainless steel replacement?

I know you're asking about stainless, but I had a grill in the past with cast iron grates. They were the best for heat retention (= nice sear marks) and you can season them to make them non-stick. You simply can't do that with SS, you'll always need to oil them. Not saying this exact one, but something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FPFX6...RhaWw&th=1

SnS Grills and Hunsaker make stainless steel grill grates. They aren't cheap but they are the real deal.

They used to make one. A few years ago, I called Weber for parts not listed on their website, and a CSR confirmed that they had some in their warehouse available for sale. I ended up with the SnS grate at a price too good to refuse. Since they are old stock, I'm wondering if they've not been repriced. They'd probably be a really good deal today.

Weber grates are chrome plated steel.

Some alternatives to consider...

Onlyfire has a stainless Gourmet Grate clone for $55. Everything I've bought from them has been legit and pretty high quality. Would pay for itself on the 2nd replacement, and the removable center helps keep your grate from dying if you use a vortex at all. A vortex will kill this weber grate in a few years.

The SNS grate is currently $80, but expect a possible Labor Day sale. It's really well made. Only 1 side flips, since it's optimized for the Slow n Sear. You can easily spin it if you do split fire, and the wider opening might be handy.

Hunsaker is around $85, I think. Their niche is they use really thick rods, so they're a bit better if you want sear marks. I have one of their grates in my WSM, and it was flawless.

Cast iron is always an option. If you live in a humid area and aren't grilling often, they'll probably rust on you. But they're extremely durable in the right use case and care regimen. The no-name ones seem to crack often. Craycort would be the one to look for.

You could always stalk Lowes and HD hoping to catch one on clearance during the fall, and maybe get lucky. This is already a bit discounted off of the normal Amazon price of $44. It's not a bad grate....but they do wear out if you are cooking on the regular, and especially if you're doing a lot of high heat searing, direct grilling, or often cooking very acidic things. Some people will wire brush them until the bars are gone, though. Big Grin

For $35 I'd expect the entire grill not just a grate. But it's been awhile since I've bought one

Generally speaking, the aftermarket SS parts are usually higher quality than the factory OEM. With the few exception of the 30+ year old ones, it's best to compliment any Weber with high quality SS parts. They will last longer than you and possibly the next person you pass it along to.

Its amazing how the prices have shot up. A few years ago I bought 2 as a pair from Amzn for 19.99, original Weber SS and I still haven't used one. Great quality.

šŸ˜† that is exactly what I paid for my Weber almost a decade ago during a target clearance. Had to go to 3 targets but I found one. still use it today.
