Anyone use one of these before? 700w would require 58 amps of 12v current even at 100% efficiency, how is that possible in your car?! Even 300 is 25A, I imagine you're blowing fuses at that point.

Yah, I *think* you need a direct connection to battery with a thick cable (and batyery-side fuse?) to get near the 300w, let alone 700w. 120w-ish maybe lil more through cig lighter and that thin cable?

You can run about 100W from the 12V outlet in most cars, if you want to do more than that then yes, you must attach it to your 12V battery and your engine needs to be running if you don't want to drain it down.

I have one of these and IIRC it comes with cables for that, though I bought mine years ago and the listing isn't clear on it. Edit: I remember upgrading to their 500W model that comes with both. I checked a couple of YouTube videos for the 300W model.and yeah, some 300W models just have the 12V adapter, which is insufficient for sure.

That being said, there aren't a lot of consume devices in the 100-300W range. Most will either be 100W or less, or well over 300W. So if you're traveling and need to run a low power AC device under 100W this might still be useful.

As I said, I moved to their more capable 500W option instead. Even then, there are still not many devices that fit in that 100-500W power budget unless you choose them very carefully, and not sure about the included cable AWG heh.

The 700W peak current usually just means for an extremely brief surge, and is typically sourced from capacitors in the device rather from the battery directly.
