I bought a refurb Apple Watch from Best Buy about a year ago, and it came in a brown box with a new-looking but wrong sized Sport band, and I had a suspicion that it was a fake. It looked quite good initially, but the edges of the band ended up wearing down and started looking crappy within like 2 months.
I ended up buying a legit Apple band using a $10 promo credit I also got from Best Buy. Comparing the two, the finish on the legit metal button/clasp thing is extremely close but slightly nicer, and the legit one has the size printed on the inside, but it would be very hard to tell the difference between them if they were both new.
HOWEVER, the Apple band has held up for 10 months so far without any signs of wear. Significantly better than whatever knockoff came with the refurb. The knockoff band also irritated my skin after a while. I thought maybe it was just dirty so I'd frequently wash it but I'd still get a small rash on my wrist. I'd definitely avoid any Apple-lookalike dupes on Temu or Ali, the long term issues aren't worth it.
