The real benefit of this plan is for people who still like to have access to retail store support (billing, upgrades, technical) and the ability to speak with live representatives over the phone - you don't get that option with most prepaid MVNOs.
Happened to me with T Mobile.
Not sure why anyone wouldn't go with Total Wireless BYOD Max 5G plan for $20/month with a more believable 5 year price guarantee. It even includes 10GB/month international data - by far the slickest phone plan on the market today. It's been posted on SD already, but here it is again, prominently displayed on their home page:

I was fortunate to get the 75%off first year w/ that Google play promo last month. It was for the first line only so I put my card on 4 individual Google pay accounts. That discount applies to taxes too so it came to $13.60/mo per separate lines for a year for the 50GB plan. At least I can get credit card points. Tmobile makes you use a debit card to get the auto pay discount.
With Tmobile closing stores and moving everything to the tlife app it's like having an MVNO anyways.
I like the phone and text from a browser, transcribed texts of voice messages, and AI enhanced noise reduction that Google Fi has.

Once again, this isn't the "best plan" availble - I would argue that I could get a better deal from Infimobile over Total Wireless but again, not a direct comparision as Total Wireless offers more benefits including phones, financing, home internet, etc.
It sure sounded like you were saying the rates wouldn't change for at least 5 years.
I believe the phrase is "Talking out of both sides of your mouth."
