But if you hit "Price History" right there on the product page you'll see it hit $5 multiple times in the last month, including within the last 24 hours. so he was likely right when he posted.

Looks like it was at $5 for a few days. No idea how many people bought the dip. I suspect they're pretty junky regardless, but if you're going to buy may as well buy them when they are cheap vs when they are Slickdeals promoted.
