I've got wide feet and Merrells are one of the few brands where the outside doesn't wear out from being not wide enough!

Used to love Merrell barefoot shoes. IMO the Trail Glove 4 and Vapor Glove 5 were the last great shoes they made. Now, I find Merrell to have lost their way. Toe boxes tend to be narrower than in the past, added support to some shoes that shouldn't have it, the ones that should have it have it in the wrong place...

These are casual/lifestyle shoes so don't expect good running or hiking performance. Also, being waterproof means your feet will sweat because the shoe won't breathe well.

Merrell Wrapt sneakers are a casual, wide-base shoe that stands out for stability and a roomy front end, especially for walking, light scrambling, biking, and easy hikes. The $44.99 price also applies to some non waterproof colors, and the wide fit works well for broader feet. The main drawbacks are the arch support and toe box, which feel intrusive or too tight for some, and the waterproof suede can trap heat and moisture. They read more like everyday walkers than serious trail shoes.

  • The forefoot running feel can make knees feel much better during walking.

    adalta

  • The wide front area can suit wide feet better than narrow brands.

    dsghgjhadhfgngfs

  • The wide base can improve stability when planting your feet while walking, climbing, or biking.

    DoctorAwesome

  • The non-waterproof color options can be available at the same $44.99 price point.

    Tbirdchirps

  • These sneakers are mainly for casual walking and may not provide enough support for serious trail hiking or heavy backpacking.

    jimx200dainnrowleyadalta

  • The arch support and insert can feel uncomfortable or even painful for some wearers.

    LukeH9333slofat1

  • The toe box can feel too tight and may cause callousing on the little toe.

    Filho_de_boto

  • Waterproof versions can trap heat and moisture, leading to "swampy" feet.

Anyone add anything good for free shipping? I had a few low drop shoes in the past and loved them until they wore out. My knees feel much better when forefoot running.

Can someone explain why many Merrell shoes have such a wide front area? They feel loose and insecure when I try them at the store, but I have never owned a pair. Cool design.

So your feet are only wide in the toe area?

Altra shoes are the same way. I love the wider toe box.
