Short answer is yes. It is an edgeless paddle, which is falling out of favor because it is not as forgiving as a well made paddle with an edge guard. But this will beat pretty much anything else at the $30 price point. You would likely need to go up to around $60+ to find anything better, and that is if you also find a deal on it.

If you are sure you are going to be playing for 3+ months, then personally I would spend a little more. But this is definitely a "real" paddle that is head an shoulders above most other things you'll find on amazon.

If you can find someone else to go in with you on the BOGO sale, this is a fantastic deal for a $60 paddle that competes with paddles 2x-3x the price: https://volair.com/collections/sh...6827236584

If you want to get your friend a paddle which retains its spin,then get the newest technology --durable grit. The grit holds up for months so the paddles retain their spin. You aren't going to find it in a $30 paddle. You will need to pay at least $100.

I tried this paddle the last time there was a coupon. It really didn't have a lot of power. Control was decent.

Does anyone actually have this paddle? Or something like it? I've got a buddy who is a little heavy-handed and his paddle is kind of a cheapo. Not good for spin. So I'm waiting for a good deal on a grippy carbon fiber paddle for him as a gift.

My experience with it so far after a few weeks with it: lots of control, not so much power. I will continue to use it unless I find something better, but I like it overall.

Not happy with this paddle. It's not really good at anything, even where it has strenghts. And it has a really small sweet spot.

So your saying there's a chance! In theory this one is at least $100 is the list msrp is to be trusted but I don't know jack about these things to know if this is really a $50 paddle on sale for $30 but promoted as a deal down from $120

I play maybe a couple times a year, so I definitely don't need a top of the line paddle, but is this one at least noticeably better than the ones that come in a 4 pack starter kit for $30?

Yes. This has a quality core construction that will respond like the top line paddles of a year ago. It is capable of hitting all of the intermediate level shots, which can't be said about 4 pack paddles. The handle is also a better quality construction, which I think is under rated.

Yes, if you're new,play for fun,not often.
These $20-30 are just fine.

TBH all these benefits people talk about only matter if you know how to take advantage of them.

If you decide to get more competitive with it, just look into demoing some.
Best paddle is based on feel & confidence with making shots consistently imo.

Thanks, I ended up buying it. I don't need anything crazy, but the Amazon starter packs feel like I might as well be playing with a piece of plywood.
