For most black ants, in my experience is Advion Ant Gel Bait works better but tends to dry up quickly. Terro bait traps last a lot longer, but I find it doesn't really kill ants as well. However Terro traps are also significantly cheaper and pet friendly.

I had a terrible ant problem at my previous house in Southern California and tried many things, including these Terro bait things. Nothing worked. They would immediately spring up from some other random spot, a wall outlet, the trim around a door, a window corner. There were millions of them. It wasn't until I found a suggestion of Bifen I/T on a post here on Slickdeals. I don't think you can get this stuff in the big box stores. It's on Amazon at the link below. It absolutely deletes insects and I enthusiastically recommend it to everyone.

Just a hunch, but I'm going to guess they were carpenter ants, not sugar ants. Terro does not attract carpenter ants at all.

Stop buying those ant baits. Get diatomaceous powder (food grade). You won't have any insects - period. $8-10 for a big bag. You'll be blessed by it.

This is just Borax if you look at the ingredients. You can buy the powder for $7 and have a whole box to use for multiple things including making your own ant bait. Search YouTube for videos on it.

These work wonders... took my RV to the Outer Banks and was infested with a line of ants from the bathroom to the front door... not even two days later, good to go...

I just use the original Terro baits not sure about these with adhesives? Prefer natural ingredients not sure what the Bifen IT is and Terro works for me

They were Argentine ants, which are considered "sugar ants." They love sweets. They would eat the Terro bait, but it wouldn't kill the colony.
