Nah, its a decent knife for the money. I have several keemake knives, including this exact paring knife from before they started laser etching.
Just don't dish wash it, and maybe rub the handle with some mineral oil every couple years to prevent it from drying out.

I stay away usually from high carbon stainless steel as I am familiar with the care requirements and I will fail. At this price point it is worth a shot. Thanks OP. My first carbon stainless steel knife.
This is a stainless steel. They don't disclose on this one but from similar knives in the series, they cite 1.4116 steel (also known as X50CrMoV15). This isn't a high carbon steel. Its not even "Japanese" steel, its "German" steel which is the same composition stuff like wusthof uses. Perfectly good steel for any home cook. Still you should handwash only and dry it right away, but this won't be anywhere near as temperamental as real high carbon steel.

Looked away for a sec and the fam already washed in a dish washer the day after arrival. Oh well. I had to apply some wood oil (for cutting boards) because the handle looked bad and that is why I dont buy good Japanese high carbon steel. Our fam ruins it. Thank you for the additional info. After I applied some oil it doesnt look too bad.

Mine came up free somehow. Guess I qualified for the 50% off and then applied coupon code and got it for free.

Are you unaware of the "poop knife?" One of the basic requirements for those who wish to enjoy indoor plumbing. I will leave it to you to perform your own research.

The vast majority of wear or dulling comes from the repetitive contact with the cutting board, not the fruit or veggies itself.
Or do you only cut "fruits & shit" in mid-air? 😏
