If you are going to rip the packs, anything at or close to MSRP is worth it. Scalpers have seemed to abandoned this set, so it's good for the collectors.

Either box is fine for kids if they aren't picky about what cards or pokemon they can get, but Perfect Order is the least-popular set in years, followed by Chaos Rising or Pitch Black. The upshot of THIS box is the 2 Phantasmal Flames packs, which can contain lots of cool cards including some Charizards (Chaos Rising and Perfect order do not have a Charizard). It's just the 6 Perfect Order packs that suck about this.
It would be rare to pull anything cool from just two packs but anything could happen. Chaos Rising big chase card is a Greninja which is moderately cool and some of the other cards are nice looking or cool.
for those wondering: this box contains six packs of the Perfect Order set, which is perhaps the least-liked set in a few years. It also contains two packs of Phantasmal Flames which is much more well-liked and gives you the chance to pull some cool Charizard cards and stuff. Normally, pokemon card products are very difficult to find in stock in stores and especially online at MSRP. This one can more commonly be found in stores because no one wants to buy it. It doesn't sell out as quickly as other stuff online either because again no one wants to buy it.
for that reason, this box is good for those who just want to rip some packs at MSRP and don't really care that much about getting specific chase cards. you will have a much, much harder time finding products from more popular sets, so if you just want to scratch the pack ripping itch, this is fine, just keep your expectations in check. Maybe your kids won't care either that it's not a very popular set and they'll have fun opening the packs anyway (unless they watch youtube or instagram videos of people opening packs, then they'll probably have learned a preference).
for Pokemon card investing purposes, like all sets, this will eventually be worth more than it's worth today despite its unpopularity particularly when it goes out of print (still a year or two away probably?), but it will likely never grow in value at the rate some of the other recent sets will because the chase cards are just not popular and it doesn't contain possible God Packs. Personally, I would NOT waste the space in my house for 5-15 years waiting for this set to gain a respectable amount of value, unless you are happy to just acquire it because it's more easily available and you aren't willing to hunt down the more-popular, harder-to-find sets at MSRP and want to start your investing journey somewhere.
