You can get a brand new Denon 3800 for $1499 at accessories4less
https://www.accessories4less.com/...ver/1.html
or
a refurb 3900 (current gen w/higher spec DACs) for the same price

Yeah it's expensive but that's the market for Denons that can run Dirac ART these days!

I dont know enough about the X3900, but hopefully they stepped up their game for its price point
There wasn't a sonic difference worth the $400 cost difference(at the time).
Especially if you use external amps, it's basically zero in that instance.
I would throw in all the PAC units in that mix also imo.
Keep in mind, with those units.
Some of the specs that make a sonic difference(with surround) that they don't offer, this already does.
Especially if you add in A1EVO which is free!
You'll have to wait for next year to get them on the new Onkyo units coming out.
It's really the only significant stepping up they are adding.
You may be waiting awhile beyond that on getting 11 channel processing at this price!
Might be awhile before this hits $1k again anytime soon, in all this turmoil.
The other big reason is for the specs it offers imo.
The RZ30 is the best buy especially when it hits $700 ime.
It's very capable, includes DL & for most people, DLBC is all you really need.
If you buy into this price to performance setups, ART isn't worth it for that scenario ime.

The rz30 is much newer, has pre outs, independent sub outs, access to DLBC(big 1 imo).
If those aren't important or of interest, save the money and get the 7100 imo.
Ever ask for calibration help from the forums?
I have seen that issue reported several times
They should have given you a replacement unit after the after the 3rd time
I have had issues with Denon/Marantz in the past with failures. It took some time to work with what I call their subpar customer service ...but they have outright replaced 3 units for me over the years
Sometimes I was so frustrated with them as soon as I received the replacement unit I just sold it...as was the case with the Marantz 7015 I owned recently
I'm on my 3rd Denon and know several owners, no one has had this issue(or any others).
To be fair, every brand does have a failure rate.
I assume this was with internal amps?
Did you ever try using external amps?

Newer DAC(not really sonic benefit), support for wireless surrounds & Channel expander.
