Parchment is cheap, works well and doesn't inhibit browning. Not sure about silicone.

I have a sling that i used like twice, same reason. parchment also does a great job holding it while it proofs. For the lazy loaf lover, just let it rise then transfer the parchment directly to the dutch oven when its time to bake. put a few ice cubes in the dutch oven next to the parchment to give your loaf a steam proof for a magic touch. perfect sourdough, every time.

Pure silicone utensils do not contain or produce PFAS, which are the synthetic compounds known as "forever chemicals". Silicone is made from silica (sand) and oxygen, bonded into a rubber-like polymer. It belongs to a completely different chemical family than PFAS. However, kitchen safety depends heavily on the quality of the product you buy

I don't own one of these, but last night I just made sourdough and put it on a square silicone baking sheet. I pre-heated my dutch oven to 475 for about 30-40 minutes before tossing the whole thing in. The bottom browned very nicely, good chewy crust on the bottom, no complaints there so silicone should be able to do the trick if your pan or cast iron is hot enough. Now if only I could get my loaves to stop sticking to the banneton, I'd be in business.
