I want this size but not for travel, for daily commuter. The only that does this is Northface router Frown. Router is great backpack but sometimes I like to switch styles

I had the Router Transit 2016 10 years ago, and it's still rocking. I've tried multiple backpacks, but none are better than it.

I have this and it's too bulky for daily and honestly unless you are bringing clothes for changing (it has compartments) it's just not worth it.

Have one and agree it's very bulky, but good if you want a decent looking, big travel backpack for non-flying applications. It might get past gate agents, but I haven't tried rolling the dice, and you're really sacrificing legroom. Not bad at this price. Feels sturdy, decent organization.

Yeah, always looking for a bigger bag, and travel a lot internationally, I'd love to hear how others have dealt with this on plane carry on.... I could imagine some carriers giving you a look on this one...

FWIW, I see some crazy high $ backpacks when am flying. I see a cool looking tech-ish backpack and think "I gotta buy that"...google it, then reaccustomize myself with all of the wonderful features of my SwissGear laptop bag purchased from BJ's Wink

40L is standard for *carry on*
People often one-bag with a 40L. I personally do a 40L plus a day pack combo (Osprey Farpoint + Daylite Plus). You'd struggle to force this under a seat unless you packed it like 30%, let alone what agents let or don't let you do

Right, I meant that it's a no-go as a personal item, and as a carry on I tend to go with a roller + smaller backpack. Do you carry the daylight on the front of your torso? Seems like kind of a pain. I never really dug into one-bagging. With a 40L, is the advantage of this bag that it has more organization than a standard roller and can be carried around more easily?

Not even organization - it's just the reasonable limit for a carry on for most carriers.

30l is under seat size.

I do front carry yeah. It can technically strap to the back (that was one of the criteria I shopped for) so I just have one giant backpack, but realized that shifts the center of gravity back to where it's weird, so didn't really end up actually doing it that way. Front helps offset the weight, so also kind of weird but the weight is better distributed. Idk about the Thule bag specifically, but Farpoint is basically just one giant compartment with no organization. I make heavy use of compression cubes and compression bags and can fit about a week's worth of warm weather clothing reasonably, enough for perpetual travel theoretically with laundry.

Main advantage is really just having hands free and feels a bit easier to navigate crowds. If you go true one-bag you can front carry single bag while going through trains etc. Makes it easier to stay out of the way. It's a tradeoff though, easier navigation especially through less smooth sidewalks, stairs, etc but more weight on your body and knees.

You want this for daily commutes and not travel? Do you think there is a law that says you cant use this for daily commuting? Super confused.
