It's worth comparing the mk 3 to the newer mk iv to see if the newer features (transport buttons, color screen, mod/pitch wheels, etc) are worth the $99 of the mark iv

NEVERMIND: Looks like I got the last one

I checked the MK4 and saw that it's only $49 via Resell! I snagged one of those instead. Check it before ordering this one! Might still be available.

I have this as my travel midi keyboard. It's not bad for the price, especially if you are new to music production. The keys can get a little sticky and they aren't the most responsive things in the world. It's best used IMO to track in midi then rearrange in your piano roll if you need to as opposed to something like playing live (not live in a show, meaning playing to hear).

This synth sounds amazing . Awesome sequencer, gorgeous presents and Effects. Synth of the year.
Errr, this is a USB controller. It doesn't make any sounds on its own. The quality of the synth sounds and effects are purely determined by whatever engine you hook it up to.

You should be able to contact Akai and have them deregister the serial number if it's already been registered to someone else. In addition to the Akai software, these also now include a bundle of Native Instruments plugins.

Not worth it. Owned one but the drum pads on it are horrible with no padding. The vintage and expensive Akai MPCs actually have amazing drum pads. Also, the piano keys feel horrible and only register 4 or 6 different volumes, so it almost doesn't even matter how light or hard you play, it will all become like 33%-66%-99%. No fine tuned control, horrible feel.

Also latency from when you click it and when it registers.

Ended up replacing it with a more expensive premium Japanese RH3 keybed on a Korg D1 for REAL artistry. Otherwise, just use your keyboard dude. A keyboard has better latency.
Could barely sell the Akai for $50 after.

One cool thing about any of these is the programmable knobs. You can close your eyes and mix.
