Because you believe that average Joe who might use an impact once every couple of years needs to invest in a pneumatic setup or a battery powered unit? Professionals aren't using this, just saying.

Three-hundred-and-fifty-foot pounds of torque is good enough to get most everything off at home, except W-mart installed tires off without a breaker bar. Probably a pretty reasonable tool to install lag bolts on your new deck for example. Comes with 7 deep well sockets: 11/16-in, 3/4-in, 13/16-in, 7/8-in, 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm. Looks like it comes with a blow-molded case and a 5-year warranty (which Lowe's is good at honoring).

Look at independent reviews, y'all. This is a good occasional use home tool from what I learned, and it won't take up a quarter of your garage.

The Kobalt is heavy and big, but it can deliver 600 continuous ft-lbs of torque (tested one a few years back) using a 50 ft 14 gauge extension cord. Need to run the tool for about 12 seconds to reach maximum steady state torque. Apply overnight ATF penetrant when working with heavily corroded fasteners. Comes with an unbeatable 5 yr warranty!

I paid $35 (returned item) for a similar HF 1/2" corded impact earlier this year. It's good for a continuous 575 ft-lbs. No expensive battery to charge. No problem removing auto lug nuts or crank bolts with oversized impact sockets.

Noobs jump on powerful expensive battery impact. I use a 3/4" breaker bar or oxy torch. The Kobalt is an excellent tool for removing fastener larger than 15 mm. Note that the 1/2" drive will continue to spin once you release the switch. Always re-install the fastener by hand to check for damage in the nut/bolt.

Mfr rates at 350 ft-lbs for the first 5 seconds. This tool delivers a continuous 600 ft-lbs after 12 seconds. The HF 1/2" electric impact hits 575 ft-lbs after 12 seconds. Need to soak the fastener in ATF or use heat if there is no movement after 15 seconds of impact. The 120 VAC impact delivers 92% of maximum continuous torque even with a 50 ft 16 gauge extension cord.

Wally World tire boys may sit on a lug nut for 5 seconds. That would translate to 400 ft-lbs max...well within the working range of the Kobalt. I'd be more concerned about warped rotor and/or damaged bolt.

The Kobalt is moderately warm with 25% duty cycle (15 sec ON, 45 sec OFF). Looks like an upgraded version of the old Harbor Freight 1/2" Chicago Electric with two removable slots to replace the brushes. That Chicago Electric tool is good for 300 continuous ft-lbs.

You're graciously giving Wally World boys some level of legitimacy. They wouldn't even remove the wheels off my truck (that they put on) because they needed a breaker bar. Policy, they said. I broke my breaker bar out and loosened them in front of them. 😀

They hire sea monkeys at many shops. Most techs at a dealership don't even break $40/hour, but they charge +$150/hour. Accurate diagnostic is 80% of the work. The other 15% is securing quality replacement parts.

I've fixed quite a few new tire problems from Wally World simply by static balance each tire to 1/8 oz. The tire balancer is out of calibration or the tech is too lazy to enter the correct parameters when balancing the tire. Cheap labor is crap labor.
