One downside is that PETG comes out shinier than PLA. Personally, I don't mind it, but that's something to consider. PLA has more of a matte finish in comparison.
It's really not a big deal to print with. Now recently I've discovered TPU is a big deal to print with. On both of my printers (the other is a creality k1se), if you do not clear any hard filament (pla, petg, ABS, etc) left in the nozzle, TPU will jam and may require you to take apart your extruder to an extent that you may not be comfortable with just to get it working again. I'm reminded of the show Archer, TPU is "like pushing rope."
