One downside is that PETG comes out shinier than PLA. Personally, I don't mind it, but that's something to consider. PLA has more of a matte finish in comparison.
It's really not a big deal to print with. Now recently I've discovered TPU is a big deal to print with. On both of my printers (the other is a creality k1se), if you do not clear any hard filament (pla, petg, ABS, etc) left in the nozzle, TPU will jam and may require you to take apart your extruder to an extent that you may not be comfortable with just to get it working again. I'm reminded of the show Archer, TPU is "like pushing rope."

Kingroon's PLA has been amazing for me so far, so I'm hoping I can get up and running with their PETG too
Drying will help a lot. I do not have an actual filament dehydrator. I have a "Commercial Chef food dehydrator" (got it used for $25) which is popular in the 3D printing community. You can find a lot of mods for it to hold multiple spools or even put a bucket with some holes on it. I dry on 70 C for 6 hours (you can also dry your desiccants or multiple spools). I use the built-in generic PETG settings in Bambu slicer or the ones from Kingroon here: https://kingroon.com/blogs/3d-pri...-filaments.
There are also guides on the internet on how to find the settings for filaments using Orca Slicer or similar tools. Just search for calibration guides. They are basically "print this thing and see which setting looks better" then use that setting.
Slowing down also helps. You can reduce speeds or even print at 50% speed.
