This is the laptop, it has moderate repair-ability. 4 screws on bottom. You might be thinking of the tablet.

11th gen is still plenty powerful for a school aged kid or for light use. The biggest issue with these will be the battery and the fact that everything is glued and unrepairable.

100% correct. It also makes it much more likely that "refurbished" just means a basic hardware test and a fresh Windows install. They didn't replace anything. One of the highlights is these are thin, light, durable, and good for throwing in a backpack and using on the go, but that value diminishes since the battery is likely 4 years old and not easily replaced.

Edit: great information below on replacing the battery. Not a drop in, but makes this a lot less of a gamble since you can replace the battery at all.

The SSD can be upgraded, but the memory (RAM) cannot be upgraded.The RAM is soldered directly onto the motherboard. Because of this design, you cannot add more memory later. I have a surface laptop 3 with similar configuration I've been using for 7 years. Kids still borrow it when they have important online interviews etc as the surface is the best computer I've ever used. Extremely reliable and a workhorse. Obviously not a gaming laptop but the battery still lasts at least 4 hours after years of use.
