I wanted to love this laptop; was specifically looking for an Intel Ultra / Arc B390 based system and this checked all the boxes. Read/watched all the pro reviews, no mention of temps. There are MANY user reviews stating they had heat issues, so either there is a cooling system design issue or MSI has terrible QC with this laptop. I regrettably returned mine and am still looking for a deal on a similar laptop from another manufacturer.

Build Quality 8/10
It's not quite at the level of the XPS or MacBook, which are considerably heavier. For a thin and light laptop, the build quality is solid, with good hinges and no flex in the chassis. The keyboard is nice, though the trackpad is mediocre.
Value 10/10
$1400 with 32GB RAM and Intel X7, this is a steal in this RAMpocalypse. You won't find another laptop with this spec at this price.
Screen 10/10
This is something most reviewers overlook: it's an OLED screen with Gorilla Glass and anti-reflective coating. There are very few laptops with these features, and the ones that do are significantly more expensive.
Thermal 7/10
Out of the box, it runs hot because it ships with Norton and other bloatware pre-installed. After updating the BIOS and performing a clean Windows installation, and I disabled a lot of AI services, the device boots from power on to the login screen in roughly 10 seconds, and barely gets warm. Oh, and DO NOT install MSI Center back after the clean Window installation, because MSI Center launches a lot of services at startup, and the system has to run those in the background all the time, it takes over rams and makes the system runs a little hotter. It does heat up under heavy load, and the two small fans are concerning, but it cools down surprisingly fast. For typical day-to-day work like programming, it stays cool, if you plan to run heavy game in it, consider using a laptop stand or external cooler.

Got a second unit and this one's been fine so far, no memory errors. Runs warm but not crazy hot or anything and the screen is beautiful.
Biggest issue now is the touchpad. Clicks miss sometimes and palm rejection is bad even after messing with the Windows touchpad settings. Might end up returning this one too due to the touchpad issue. Anyone else dealing with the touchpad problem?
Update: Returned the 2nd laptop with the touchpad issue. Brand new laptops shouldn't have any hardware problems out of the box. The quality control on these MSI laptops just seems terrible.
