While I do like these vacuums because I have lots of those batteries, $400 MSRP is absurd. These should be around $200 with the old ones being $50-100 cheaper.

Since Ryobi is the #2 selling brand in the U.S.
They are highly popular and are tied with Dewalt for top sales volume. Both have 19% marketshare, but Dewalt takes #1 spot because they make more profit off their tools. Milwaukee sits 3rd at 13%

However, Ryobi is increasing in sales over the last few years and if they keep on track, they will be #1 eventually. Oh and the same company that owns Ryobi, also owns Milwaukee. Ryobi is their home line, Milwaukee is their more professional line.

Amen, I have an older style that the hose (from the shaft to brush head) cracked. I was going to buy a replacement stick vacuum and even the lowest end refurbs on directtoolsoutlet.com are $170. Pretty silly. I ended up just repairing, which was a PITA, and hoping to score a better deal later.

Your post doesn't make any sense. Just because a budget brand sells a lot, doesn't mean they should raise their prices to compete with higher end brands. They sell so much BECAUSE they are a budget brand.

How come? I've been wanting to get this one for a while. I have their cheaper pet vac and I love it.

It is a pain in the butt to empty and gets clogged pretty easy.

Ohh gotcha yeah mine is tricky to empty too. Have to use a fork to scrape stuff out but I deal with it. 🤣

They still are a budget brand vs tools from the likes of Milwaukee and Dewalt. If you don't like Ryobi, simply don't buy them.

I do like and buy Ryobi as well as DeWalt, depending on the tool. No need to be defensive about it. But this vacuum is not in their normal price tier, and it's not even close. It's totally ok for people to point that out and not be stoked about it.

I think you can get it on home Depot's website for about 200 without any batteries
