This is a physical pre-order for Ocarina of Time on Switch 2, framed as a full remake with updated visuals and quality of life changes rather than just a graphics tweak. The foil first printing and launch window stock are a big draw, and the price is seen as reasonable compared with Nintendo's own $70 listing and the game's rarity on sale. The main concerns are that it is still a faithful remake of a decades old game, so the value depends on nostalgia, and Amazon preorders have a spotty record for launch day delivery. A solid pick if you want the physical copy and the foil release.

Common Questions (5)

  • The first shipment is supposed to be the foil release, and the foil edition is described as the initial printing. That means launch-window stock from retailers should be the foil version, though the product page also notes supplies are limited.

  • Amazon's pre-order price guarantee should apply, so a lower price drop can be charged automatically for an existing preorder. That makes preordering useful if the price changes before release.

  • Yes. Buying Nintendo account funds at a discount, such as Costco or Sam's Club promotions, can bring the effective price down to about $54, and using store gift cards or certificates can cut it further.

  • This is not a Switch 2 edition; it is a full remake. The release is being treated as a rebuilt version of Ocarina of Time rather than a simple platform upgrade.

  • The question is whether it is a real physical cartridge, not just a box with a code. The thread does not confirm the contents, so the safest assumption is to verify the listing details before ordering.

I was lucky last week. Best Buy sent me a $5 certificate and I've been holding onto this $60 gift card for like four years, so I was able to snag this game for about $9.80. Store pickup as well cause I don't want shipping like you. I'll go at lunch break to pick up the game and grab some gas at Costco, since Best Buy is next to Costco where I live.

I am all for a switch 2 version but $59.88 seems high. For me, $40 is the maximum
It's 100% worth the 70 they're asking. $40 is insulting considering how awesome this game looks per today's Zelda Direct that Nintendo put out

It released in 1998 for $59.99 before tax (inflation adjusted this was the equivalent of ~$122 today.)

This game has been fully remade with quality of life improvements and can be bought for...wait for it...$59.88!

It's reductive to say "it's just graphics" because there are many talented designers, developers, musicians, and other professionals who masterfully rebuilt this game from the ground up.

Feel free to wait until a special sale or buy it used for cheaper, but objectively, it's already a reasonable price.
Yes, but when i played it on release day back then, my mom bought it for me, lol. It's different when it's my money. 😜

Feels like yesterday I went to pickup my preorder of the original on N64. I wish I had left it sealed & Held onto it!!!
If you did then you wouldn't be so nostalgic about it.

How long did it take the recent Final Fantasy ports to drop?

VII Intergrade released in March & it's $40 now.
Intergrade is a lot less than $40, as of earlier this week it was on xbox/PC for $10 (it's a play anywhere game). Even Rebirth has been $20 a few times now.

I hope you aren't comparing Square pricing vs Nintendo... after all... Super Mario Odyssey is still $60 MSRP and it was a Switch launch game.

call me crazy but I don't think 1:1 remakes should cost as much as a brand new game, especially considering OOT doesn't need a gameplay overhaul, it's held up well but maybe make the item switching faster than going through menus

the graphics look like they slapped DLSS 5 on it, and if they didn't then even more yikes

would I buy and play OOT again? sure!
would I pay the same price that new games cost? nope
You have a valid point about a faithful remake should be less. More so because there isn't all that much planning in the plot or world design or characters. They had someone look at the old characters and old settings and create a higher detailed version of them. In the trailer the mouths weren't even matching the voices.
With the absence of those time consuming aspects it should cost less. After playing the old one recently I would some quality of life improvements are needed, such as all the zones connecting instead of moving in and out of these smaller zones. The control redesign to support camera movement was vital. I do hope they provide more exploration and endgame stuff to do.

I don't believe Breasts of the Wild was done by Nintendo, are you thinking of a different game?
Big Grin
It's one hell of a mod.
I wouldn't mind a VR version of that.

I've been a BB+ member for the past 6 months and I haven't got a single email about any $5 or $10 certs. I thought those would come as a BB+ member. I don't know if I need to periodically check somewhere or what. Or do you mean you got the $5 for rewarding points.

Good to know you will be getting some gas 2 months from now. Smilie

I don't want foil, and I don't want to spend $60 on uncanny graphics of the exact same game. Downvoted and Cancelled!!! This will be $20 in no time! Be patient!
Are you guys trolling rn? This is insane. One of the greatest games ever that you don't have to play in 30 year old graphics. Nintendo actually cooked with this. Go back to whatever sad corner of the world you crawled out of

I wouldn't say awesome; those faces were... something else, the limited audio they did have wasn't at all synced with the voice, it looked alright but I've seen some fan made unreal 5 remakes that were just as good.
I wasn't expecting FF7 remake levels of reimagining and added content but I was hoping for more than adding camera control with the second joystick and prettier graphics.

They are absolutely trolling. I can't think of any first party game in the last decade that even dropped 25 percent MSRP.

Lately Amazon for me has been terrible with getting stuff to me close to release day. I'm still waiting for Orbitals that released last week.
Lately Amazon can't seem to get me 1/5 packages and 3/5 are late, delayed, or perpetually delayed
