This EliteBook 830 G8 looks like a solid business laptop for everyday work, especially if 32GB of RAM matters for Chrome tabs, Excel, PDFs, and photo storage. The 11th gen i7 and upgradeable internals make it feel capable and easy to service, and the RAM and SSD alone are treated as a big part of the value at this price. The main knocks are the older 6 plus year platform, the small 256GB drive, and uncertainty around battery and refurb condition. A practical pick if you want a lightweight office machine and can live with modest storage.
People who want a business laptop for everyday work, because the EliteBook line is built as a premium metal business machine and the 11th-gen i7 still feels capable.
Office workers juggling Excel, PDFs, email, and lots of Chrome tabs, because 32GB RAM keeps heavy multitasking responsive.
Light productivity users storing photos and browsing the web, because the lightweight chassis and ample memory make basic tasks feel easy.
Tinkerers who like serviceable laptops, because the RAM, M.2 NVMe drive, battery, and WLAN are easy to access and replace.
Buyers expecting a pristine certified refurb, because units can arrive with visible wear, weak battery health, or damaged parts.
People who want a newer-feeling laptop for general use, because this 6-plus-year-old model can feel dated and the battery condition is uncertain.
People who need lots of local storage, because the 256GB drive is too small unless you add external storage.
Travelers who need quiet operation, because the fan can click loudly even after cleaning debris out.

1.Right-click on the Windows Start menu button and select Device Manager.
2.Click the arrow next to Disk drives to expand the list.
3.You will see the exact model number of your SSD.
4.You can download the manufacturer software.
Option 2 is to download a third-party app, and the recommended one is CrystalDiskInfo, but download it directly from their site: https://crystalmark.inf
BTW, it is not the end of the world if the drive fails (as long as you have things backed up). You can get a new replacement 256gb m.2 drive for $55. Not ideal, but if you get a drive with light usage and it does unfortunately fail, it doesn't mean the laptop is trashed. Plus hopefully the Allstate warranty covers it, but you'd have to read the verbiage on whether they consider this a wear-item.
Personally, I prefer HP elitebook because it is a business laptop. No offense since you already bought the HP, I think the Acer is a better choice for most people, unless you want a business laptop.
Acer seems to be more fun to use. Again, I don't use laptop for fun. It has touchscreen, 1T ssd, and a more recent CPU. Acer certified refurbished is like brand new. Excellent battery health. You can't tell it is refurbished.
How do I know this? I damaged a laptop when replacing the battery back in February.
I had to buy a replacement and I saw a different variant of this Acer on sale at $355. After tax, it was $395.xx
I made that purchase at once.
Now, after RAM and ssd inflation since February, the price is only slightly higher. I think the recent price is between $390.xx to around $410

I'm generally a bit hesitant on 3rd party refurbs, unless the original warranty coverage is still valid, which doesn't usually seem to be the case. But of course, refurbs generally mean a more competitive/slick price point
