This will get the job done for most people even if it is a little older. If you need the RAM this will be hard to beat with the current clown show right now.

I'd like to know what makes the 830 x360 more sense at this price? One's a convertible and the other a clamshell, two completely different form factors. Also, I'd like you to share the last time that model was on sale or posted here.

This EliteBook 830 G8 looks like a solid business laptop for everyday work, especially if 32GB of RAM matters for Chrome tabs, Excel, PDFs, and photo storage. The 11th gen i7 and upgradeable internals make it feel capable and easy to service, and the RAM and SSD alone are treated as a big part of the value at this price. The main knocks are the older 6 plus year platform, the small 256GB drive, and uncertainty around battery and refurb condition. A practical pick if you want a lightweight office machine and can live with modest storage.

  • People who want a business laptop for everyday work, because the EliteBook line is built as a premium metal business machine and the 11th-gen i7 still feels capable.

  • Office workers juggling Excel, PDFs, email, and lots of Chrome tabs, because 32GB RAM keeps heavy multitasking responsive.

  • Light productivity users storing photos and browsing the web, because the lightweight chassis and ample memory make basic tasks feel easy.

  • Tinkerers who like serviceable laptops, because the RAM, M.2 NVMe drive, battery, and WLAN are easy to access and replace.

  • Buyers expecting a pristine certified refurb, because units can arrive with visible wear, weak battery health, or damaged parts.

    TomL6071dinapsolinesprogisbostero1218

  • People who want a newer-feeling laptop for general use, because this 6-plus-year-old model can feel dated and the battery condition is uncertain.

    burticustyiu48

  • People who need lots of local storage, because the 256GB drive is too small unless you add external storage.

    mekkis

  • Travelers who need quiet operation, because the fan can click loudly even after cleaning debris out.

This seems like a pretty good deal for a work computer (mostly using Excel, PDFs, emails, lots of tabs on Chrome, etc), right? Don't necessarily care about battery life since it will most likely be plugged in most of the time. I've been waiting for something with 32GB for a while (mainly for the Chrome tabs) and this seems like a great price. Unless you guys think we'll see something better during Black Friday... I can wait until then.

Bought one of these, fan makes a loud clicking noise. Pulled the back off and blew out what looked like a few finger nail clippings. Reduced the noise some but still too clicky. Sending back today.

Does anyone know if the battery can be replaced? I bought a refurbished dell on ebay and the battery isn't very good, I would like to upgrade to this one but worry about battery life?
I had a similar situation with a refurbished Dell notebook, but I bought a new battery and installed it. It wasn't very hard or expensive.

I did not order this Elitebook 830 model. I ordered 2 different Elitebook 845 laptops. It was a timing issue. The first order was from a non-ebay seller. I did not expect the order to go through as it was pending. So, I made a different order in ebay. Finally, they both came. I wish I only ordered 1.
The one from non-ebay seller is acting funny. It was a UK machine (the previous owner was in England?). I was panic as I could not key in some info during setup. It turns out UK keyboard is slightly different. But it can change back to US English. There is an audio driver error as well.
The second order from ebay is fine. In the future, I will stay with ebay.
I never owned or used HP Elitebook before. It is better than I expected. Once a HP representative tried to convince me to buy a HP Elitebook for more than $1000. Now, I am getting those for under $400.

I bought the certified refurbished model and it arrived three days later. It looks new except a very small scuff on the side and it came with a proprietary HP 65 watt charger (not USB C). The seller included included a quick start guide on how to setup the new machine and the battery seems okay - I worked for a few hours and the charge did not deplete rapidly as I expected. So far it's been a great machine and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Typically, certified refurbished is the highest grade other than open box. They usually have 90% battery power, along with 2 year warranty. All other types of refurbished have 1 year warranty.
You can use powercfg /batteryreport, to check the battery health.

I ordered an "Excellent refurbished" (not certified refurbished) which has only 75% battery health.

Mine came with 78% battery health. The seller said everything above 70% is fine. So much for Certified Refurbished.
