Bose's refurb soundbars will appear to be in "like new" condition. To be honest, they do a decent job cleaning these up. Even the box it comes in looks retail except for the fact that it's labeled "refurbished," however, the remote that comes included is brand new and shrink wrapped which is a plus.

Believe me, there's not much if any bass that is artificially tuned in advance on this soundbar out of the factory. Voices (during verbal dialogue) sound distinct, their vocal pitch tends to be pretty steady from what I can tell and carry themselves on their own w/o the need for enhancements or vice versa, and you can make out clearly what the speaker (person) is saying. Unless your mom loves rap music w/ heavy bass, snapping snares, and electronic synths, then the persistence of bass will be the least of her concerns, lol. Anything w/ bass being played through this soundbar tends to be hollow anyway in my opinion since this is 2.1 channel. If you haven't caught on by now, I own this exact soundbar which I purchased 3 years ago and it's still going strong to this day.
