This is the one Starlock attachment I've found little use for / inferior to the OIS equivalent. DeWalt used to make a half-moon shaped flat blade with hooked cutters that made cutting thick carpet a breeze. It just sailed through thick cardboard, rubber (nylon belted tires were a piece of cake), nasty old shag carpet, thick Berber carpet and other stuff that gave the wrists a real workout even with sharp utility knife blades.

This blade is supposed to fill that role for Starlock tools, but I found it to suck.
