I can attest that while business traveling, if you have to do emails or excel/powerpoint, etc., an extra screen is great.
My old boss had to do Excel one night while making slides, and I forgot about my extra monitor. Needless to say, she didn't get much completed as flipping between apps on one screen is a horrible experience.

When not traveling, I bought this desk mount from AMZ and have the external monitor in portrait configuration as my 3rd work monitor for MS Teams chat. Nice to not have to look down to see if there's a pending chat message before going to the app.

This AOC has them.
They're not 100% needed, but having recently mounted mine up as a 3rd work display and a dual-monitor mobile workstation for the living room, I would say, it's a nice thing to have.

I don't have this brand, but IMO they're durable as long as you don't drop your bag.
I actually took a newspaper (folded) and have it as additional cushion in my backpack.
I have had mine since 2020.
I have traveled with them dozens of times.
The USB-C cables seem to fail faster though based on the input angle. I recommend getting some L- or U- shaped connectors to help.

I have recently converted to a duffel backpack carry-on. I plan on keeping all my hardware in it until I am at the airport. Then, I'll pull out the hardware and use a lightweight collapsible backpack for my personal items on the plane (laptop/tablet, headphones, phones, food). When not on the plane, they all go into the wheeled duffel for easy portability vs. my old setup with a hard-sided carryon and a heavy duty 10# backpack that carried my laptop(s), portable monitors, tablets, phones, etc. Things stayed safe, but too heavy and bulky now that I think about it.

The case is pretty nice, I keep it in my backpack, albeit in an internal compartment. I don't know how well it would handle a crush.

What are you trying to suggest? Because this sounds like projection from someone who has never owned one.

I have a different brand and specs, but these travel displays are amazing. I attach it to this stand [amazon.com], run the second display at 1920x1080, stack the display above my laptop, and it adds invaluable productivity.

Thanks for that info. When you say the USB C cables fail, you mean the actual cable , right? Not the port? Those adapters basically stabilize the connection/angle of attachment it looks like so less wear on both cable/port.

It's supposed to be easily for use as a secondary screen. If you want to tote a 32" screen around, you're in the minority. Not sure what you're expecting in a portable, secondary monitor, but until foldable screens become available, this is a fair option. And what about power? If you go much bigger, you're going to need an external power source rather than USB type-C from your laptop, which is kind of silly with something that's main selling point is portability.
