You are the one who is clueless. Viator is basically a reseller - so you need to understand what they are reselling. In Mexico City, I booked a hot air balloon ride - you could go directly through Volare (one of the big operators there) or you could go through Viator for the same price. Getting 30% cashback through Viator saved me $200+. And Volare was excellent.
The way I do it is called "prime the pump". So I basically put some stuff in my cart, invoke their shopping portal and they will show that they are giving you a measly 1% or something. I don't buy. Then lo and behold, they will send an offer for that website for a higher %. Best was Columbia last year at 70% off. And sometimes they miscalculate in your favor - I stayed at Barcelo in Mexico and paid like $1400 but they somehow thought I spent $2400 and gave me a $570 cashback.
The only thing you have to worry about is that they have limited point redemption options - but I have been able to redeem.
