Does anyone have any experience with and know if The Throw & Beam distance is maintained after substitution of 14500 with AA batteries & what the running time is ?

I have 2 of them, one with SFT25 and one with Nichia 519a. You'll get a lot more power with 14500 (4x as many lumens on high), but AA runtimes will be longer on high modes (2.5x longer than 14500).

This test was for V1 (not V2, which is what the deal is for), but it will give you a general idea of the comparison:
