This Energy RC bundle is a strong home theater and music package built around neutral, smooth sounding towers, a matching center, and bookshelf speakers that many find detailed without harshness. The set is described as heavy, solid, and still competitive years after release, with the RC 70s and RC LCR doing especially well for dialogue and full system synergy. A subwoofer is still needed for true full range output, and the main caution is Adorama shipping and support, where damaged boxes, replacement mixups, and long delays have been reported. A good fit if you want classic Energy sound and can get an intact shipment.

Seems like hit or miss with this company. Definitely concerned that spending $800 for this set will become a problem at some point with customer service. Seems like too many folks in these comments have had a bad experience with Adorama.
The people most likely to post are the people that have issues...thats pretty much the case with anything
I suspect that is Adorama was shipping majority damaged good then they would do some sort of internal correction mechanism, quickly

I picked up the $200 CF-50 pair a few weeks back. The boxes had shipping damage/holes where the styrofoam wasn't supporting them, and a couple of the styrofoam in the corners had cracked. But the speakers seemed to be in proper shape. It definitely seems like the Energy boxes are not really good enough for shipping, and Adorama seems to have a practice of not double-boxing where they really should. I previously (several years ago) bought an onkyo receiver from Adorama, it also was not double-boxed, but the onkyo box was much sturdier and seemed to survive shipping ok. For smaller purchases (in price or in size) I'm less concerned with ordering from Adorama. As the price or size increases, I'm more wary.

I want to buy this but I can't find enough reviews from outside of slickdeals to make me confident enough to drop a grand on this. Everything I can find seems to be about older versions of these speakers.

That combined with Adorama horror stories and I don't understand how this has 80+ thumbs up

Had this since the mid 2010's. Fantastic system. Bought this exact one months ago to get a second set. Same quality, same sound, high end audiophile system for people in the "know". Have other systems and went back to the RC70 as mains now because they are THAT GOOD. This is an insane deal and if you want a home theater and amazing quality music in your space...this is the real deal. I am not sure what others are doing for rears, but I already have the original RC ones. Just add a RSL subwoofer to your setup and you are golden.

Thanks for your input I've been staring at this all night and just ordered.

Don't think these are going anywhere soon. The economy is not helping. Look for them here for a few more months.

What size speaker wire is everyone using to connect these speakers? I don't want to skimp when it comes wiring but I don't want to overdo it either.

I bought the cf 30s and they have a lot of sibilance. Ran them for a couple days and tried everything to tame them down to no avail.
It takes a lot longer than a few days for speakers break in! Disconnect them one at a time and make sure it's not coming from just one speaker with maybe a defective tweeter. If they all sound the same then adjust your sound to lower the treble to accommodate for it. I mean it is cheaper aluminum tweeters! They all have more sibilance. What kind of speakers did you have before?

I have many pairs of speakers. Everything from wharfedale to high end polk lsi. I know about break in period but that is usually for cones and spiders to get a workout. I had them hooked up to a Yamaha Aventage receiver and went into the manual eq and adjusted between 5khz and 10khz. They are just too bright for my liking. I went back to my Hivi Swans. I only ordered these to see what they sounded like for being as cheap as they are. I have had energy speakers in the past. Appreciate your advice. I have been doing this for many years.

For 8 ohms, 16 gauge is fine for runs up to 50 feet. Just make sure it's pure copper and not that copper-clad aluminum crap.

Even though he is right, I would stick to 14 awg ofc or 12awg ofc. KnuKonceptz has a pretty good line that is affordable. Buy it once and never look back. Monoprice another great place to get wire, especially shielded in-wall if you plan on doing that.
Had the 12awg on my RC30s for over a decade, recently took em off, stripped em, put a sleeve on it, heat shrink and some new Fospower banana plugs. Looks good. Sounds the same. Don't over think or over purchase the cables, but why not have fun with it?

I was just indicating the smallest gauge he should get. Of course there's nothing wrong with going bigger like you suggest.

Well I'm bummed. I had this in my cart. The coupon worked as of an hour and a half ago. I was waiting for Adorama on a price check request on another item. While waiting on them this code expired and now it's not working. I thought I hit the purchase button an hour ago. It would have worked and I would have got this, what I believed to be, an amazing deal after researching the speakers.
