That $2.88 price is the regular price for it. It isn't currently marked down or running on a special sale—that's just Home Depot's everyday base price for their seasonal 2-gallon buckets (matching the standard 2-gallon orange paint/utility buckets, which go for $2.98).
This site has gone a long ways backwards since its heyday when I joined. Now its worse than craiglists. Bunch of scammers
I love how the front page for tools is just the same Carhartt bags on Amazon for a couple bucks off ( 3rd time in a month those things have been boosted ) and a scam post about a $3 Home Depot bucket.
This whole post (and some of the subsequent responses) are pathetic. It has that sleazy, used-car-dealership vibe.
People are absolutely right to complain about this.
I get it, but you know I've seen 'sale' deals get posted on this site that were more than regular everyday priced items at another merchant and people are upvoting/buying the 'sale' item, because, it's a "SALE'.
I try to be selective what 'regular' priced deals I post. typically cheap items in the $1-3 range that even have free delivery or shipping on them. Such that if you didn't know about the dea and you thought driving to dollar tree or walmart or wherever with gas at $4.50 a gallon would be more beneficial than people finding out about a really great 'regular priced' deal they didn't know about, that is somehow better.
I know some get up in arms about these posts and yeah, they aren't the cream of the crop of SD 'Deals' but I do think they are benfeficial to many who really never had any idea they could get item 'x' for $1.29 reg priced shipped or delivered free, which was cheaper than if they had gone out to the grocery store to buy it there.
To my mind, the real criteria of SD is that you are saving money, and if someone hand delivering you a $1.25 regular priced item may just save you more than what it would cost you in gas to go to the B&M for it, never imagining it would be something you could find online at that price point with free delivery.
