The C414 XLII is a versatile large diaphragm condenser that stands out for studio voice work and general recording, with a warm, refined sound and enough flexibility to handle vocals, piano, and other instruments. It sits in the lower end of the professional mic price range, and the current $799 price is described as below dealer pricing and unusually strong for a brand new unit. The main caveat is that it is overkill for many casual setups, and its sensitivity means live use can invite feedback without the right chain and monitoring. A solid workhorse if you are building a serious recording rig.
Common Questions (4)
It's a versatile workhorse condenser that can be used on vocals, piano, and instruments, and it can work in mono or as a matched stereo pair. Its high sensitivity and studio focus make it better for recording than live sound, where feedback can be an issue.
It sits in the lower end of the professional mic price range and is a noticeable step up from $100-$200 options, but the improvement may not matter for every use case. It's best suited to voice or pro studio work where its refinement and adjustability matter more than raw basic capture.
It's described as warmer than some U87 clones, while those clones are preferred by some for a brighter sound. That makes the C414 XLII a good fit when you want a smoother, warmer character rather than extra top-end brightness.
It's not a great choice for live music or concerts because its high sensitivity can pick up feedback easily around speakers. It's better suited to studio or radio-style recording where that sensitivity is an advantage.

I've built clones of Neumann U47 FETs and U87s and ribbon mics from parts and repaired many Chinesium and Russian (Oktava) mics.
Nearly all the Chinese mics take classic German mic circuits and cut out the portions of the circuit that reduce noise. They also often cut down on the housing/mechanical portions, which often changes the character/resonance of the clone relative to the original.
This is elite product, I can't imagine many people in slick deals buying this product for 799 dollars. As others say buying 5,000 watches on slickdeal is also elite product. Most of us are regular slickdeal people that are looking for slick deal.

It IS a slick deal, if this is a product you're in the market for.
The fact that you, "AquaGalley8616", are not in the market for this product, does not have any bearing on whether or not the deal is slick.
