Good deal on a side note nobody please buy any used (even like new) mics from Amazon. I made the mistake once and my Neumann TLM was an awesome Logitech USB, don't even risk it. Had to go thru Amazon fraud dept and they held the cash etc until the return was in place. Make it common practice to take video of the unboxing on higher priced items and also use a card with great chargeback protection because there are a lotta scumbags out there committing return fraud on these.

Is this really that much better than like a $100 or $200 mic? I'm not familiar with mics but I'm guessing it's the same as guitars where once you get past like $500 or so there's not really any improvement, but there are still guitars that cost $2k+

You mean there are real benefits that are not worth the cost for most people. So the marginal additional benefit is not worth the premium for you. I'm just trying to be exact with wording as you seem to imply there's no improvement. There is, it's just not worth the cost for most people.

If you don't care about subtlety, low mic self noise, professional features like a limit led, multiple polar patterns, and high spl handling for music or non-voice recordings, you can get a similar looking large diaphragm mic on Aliexpress with the Baifeili C414 for about $90. I have one of their mics and aside from the self noise it sounds quite nice. For professional voice recording with those you would want to run the recordings through some software to remove the background noise.

My bass player and recording engineer really likes these; they do sound good in any situation. It comes down to mainly taste and specialization; some mics work well in specific applications (such as "this is my favorite female vocal mic, or this is my favorite bass drum mic"). He likes them because they are warmer than my $600 U87 clones. I like my U87 clones because they're brighter.

I've built clones of Neumann U47 FETs and U87s and ribbon mics from parts and repaired many Chinesium and Russian (Oktava) mics.

Nearly all the Chinese mics take classic German mic circuits and cut out the portions of the circuit that reduce noise. They also often cut down on the housing/mechanical portions, which often changes the character/resonance of the clone relative to the original.

gee... I bought the woot bumblebee 2 mic for 5 dollars during super sale, normally woot was selling them for 15 dollars. This mic is for pro recording artists and professional use, would i notice any difference if I'm in my room makeing a recording for my journal.

This is elite product, I can't imagine many people in slick deals buying this product for 799 dollars. As others say buying 5,000 watches on slickdeal is also elite product. Most of us are regular slickdeal people that are looking for slick deal.
